What To Expect

Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park
This gives us the opportunity to reconnect with our ancestors. This is where they would have had their last bath before leaving the continent and we will have our first bath in the same river as a symbol of reconnecting with them.

You will also receive a traditional Ghanaian name given to you in accordance with the day of the week you are born, welcoming you fully to the land of your great ancestors. This can be a very emotional experience and after paying our respects

The Emancipation day durbar together with the visit to the slave river as well as laying of wreaths at the graves of returnees are thus held annually on August 1 to commemorate and climax the celebrations.
